Don't Make Me Miss You

Don't Make Me Miss You

A Poem by Andy Lewis
"

My mom was hospitalized today

"
(To the hand that has held me up, throughout these years. My ever watching, guardian angel in the flesh...mom)
My heart stopped, the flush of cold across my breath.
I will never know fear as I possess today.
My nurturing vine in a world so dry, my foothold on the climb of life.
I'm strong because you are stronger.
I'm alive because you are giving.
Don't make me miss you, I can't bare that.
Don't make me miss you, I can't fear that.
Don't make me miss you, your my last hope.
Don't make me miss you, don't ever let go.
-Mommy-

My friend I know this feeling too well. My mother fought a 3 year battle with breast cancer and ultimately succumbed to it. We went through the hospital visits and had scare after scare. Finally she could just take no more. She was 51 when she passed. I was 22. I'm only 23 now and the anguish is as raw as ever. I sincerely hope whatever happened will pass and she will pull through.
