Thinking TimeA Poem by HippoMe TimeOne foot in front of the other. The rhythm of footsteps as his shoes repeatedly strike the uneven pavement. His breath steaming as it joins the coldness of the night. His face cold from the night air as he stares into the darkness, navigating through the dimly lit streets. The distant noise of traffic as vehicles hurry along the desolate roads. His eyes squint in the passing headlights of cars passing by. Engine sounds fill his cold ears as they pass by and drive off into the distance. His mind empty of thoughts. A calm, empty, peaceful void, so different than during the day. The darkness shrouds him, and relaxes him like a comfort blanket. He takes a deep breath of refreshing cold night air and continues one foot in front of the other, walking into the night with a contented smile on his face. © 2010 HippoAuthor's Note
