![]() Man of the house (Lyrics)A Poem by Andy Crawford![]() Lyrics for an old song i wrote for my band Turn off the Sun. If anyone is interested in hearing the song send me your email address and i'll send you an MP3.![]()
Do you remember the first time someone shook your hand?
It might be the first time i learned to stand on my own two feet in the quicksand and my heart on my sleeve forget the words they whisper and just remember to breathe 'cos when it hits, it hits and when i fold, i fold I was the man of the house but i was just a boy you took me into your arms but i chose to deploy guards to keep you away and i regret it to this day Days like these cut me in two, days like these remind me there's still so much, so much to get through with my feet in the quicksand and my heart on my sleeve forget the words they're shouting out and just remember to breathe 'cos when it hits, it hits and when i fold, i fold I was the man of the house but i was just a boy you took me into your arms but i chose to deploy guards to keep you away and i regret it to this day Do they hurt you when they hurt me? Have you heard of empathy? Or is that a cliche? It must be a cliche Do they see you like they see me? Through a veil of sympathy Or is that a cliche? It must be a cliche And do you sigh when you don't hear from me? Or are you glad your day is free? Or is that a cliche? It must be a cliche Do you have some words to say to me but can't find a melody? Or is that a cliche? It must be a cliche © 2010 Andy Crawford |
