Maybe It was the Rain

Maybe It was the Rain

A Poem by Andrew Nelson Stewart
"

Love and much more what meets the eye when such an old world is said so many times.

"
Do we even count when everything is already said?
Do we even dance when the song replays and already played
back & forth in
 driving home?
Do we even sing out loud the lyrics when the Idyllic nights become unbearable
What's there to paint when I see black and white anyway?
You'd always drew our lives in pencil
What's to wear on my cold sanctimonious finger
when you left me a moon-ring
both realizing you took all the colors with you.

How to smile when it's heavy?
Maybe pulling those demons out of your lungs,
those labored breaths
in the heaviness you feel.

How can I stop when the world continues to show?
How to dream anymore when you feel like a stranger in your own?
How to move on, when changes was just a blister
 that heals to wounds
and later a scar to show?

What I'm supposed to do
that life is just a life and nothing more?

In the ways through the summit where I find her name outside my door
These days I give names.

Love is only a kiss that gives you a kiss goodbye.
That lie you said "I love you"
Just kiss me so you don't have to lie anymore.

When love walks out the door it is never easy especially if you deeply truly the the person.

Love is complicated and unnerving many times. When we can’t be with the one we love it is a weight that won’t lift and a heaviness inside our hearts being squeezed right in the center

Final stanza so very moving. Being left behind
is the pits. Years later you still remember those feelings of rejection. You took me back there for a few minutes. So hard to live without the one you love. Very well conveyed.

I feel accomplished as a writer to provoke such feelings from readers. Thanks for your heartwarming .. read more
as Sheryl Crowe sang "Lie to me, I promise I'll believe you"--

and as Elvis sang "I'd rather go on hearing your lies, than go on living without you"

but the leaving is so hard...I have had too many of these goodbyes...there is a time to heal...when
can that come unless the one who no longer loves us leaves.

very moving piece of poetry.
