Regret

Regret

A Poem by Androglossia

Twelve past three.
     Three past cold stick
and a coffee
    stained china.
And a bed. And a you.

A goldfish swam
    in my coffee like
like how you.
Used to swim in me.

this is an extremely, and i mean extremely, alluring poem. exploration of regret, loneliness, need, without dipping into the saccharine or tried tropes of so many precursors. my first read, and i very much enjoyed what i found here Mary Ann

thanks for the great poem

Your poem is a beautiful and poignant reflection on the passing of time and the memories that linger. I was struck by the vivid imagery you used, particularly the description of the coffee-stained china and the goldfish swimming in the coffee. Your use of sensory details helps to transport the reader into the scene and creates a sense of longing for the past. I appreciate how you explore the theme of loss and how it affects us. Overall, your poem is beautifully written and thought-provoking. Great job!

I definitely like the comparison of the goldfish and the partner, it's something unexpected and I liked the surprise in the second verse/stanza. Thanks for sharing!

Now that was really cool. Such an abstract but sensual feel to this piece. Love the goldfish line...really nicely done.
