Billowing Bananas

When I was a kid, I used to be so interested in botany and agriculture. Plants are nothing like humans. Buildings are just trees that only wish to be as beautiful. Sure, trees don't exactly lord over the lower-class or contribute to global warming or even, though rarely, look as good as trees. But trees are amazing! If you take a splinter of a wooden plank and water, will it turn into a four-story complex? No! Trees produces way better fruits, nuts, bananas and are generally better looking to boot.

If it wasn't for those rotten business men, the world wouldn't look so bleak and barren. Garden of Eden must've been in a different planet because when I get out, all I see is the Sahara Desert, littered with buildings of concrete and smoke belching cars. Sometimes, I couldn't tell if it's night or if the cars are awake. What am I saying? Cars are always awake! Day and night, pretending to be dogs with their incessant honking! Airplanes buzzing like bees and flying above the clouds when the sky belongs to the birds! Towers, despite their innate nature, sprouting abruptly faster than cherry saplings!

It would've been better if everyone was a tree! Blossoming flowers that only produce the sweet spring scents that I love so much and not that nauseating sour smoke! Buildings with leaves instead of a congested resentment!

So that's why I decided to become a fruit--which was a part of a tree. Way better than being a human. You would think it was impossible but in reality, it was really easy. People had been doing it for ages! Treating it as punishment when in reality, it was a blessing. Everything was set-up perfectly. I had found this tall, mahogany tree with branches as thick as my arm and lush flora crowning it. I had climbed, like a monkey, and was going to make like a banana. A single jump was all I took and--
