Bury Me HereA Poem by AndrewWritesCriticism Welcome. Touches on a sensitive subject, so be advised.Bury Me Here
Life is rough and people are hard, I never thought id get this far. But while we may not have it all, Ill always catch you when you fall. In this town we lay our heads, Dream of our kids lying in their beds. Struggling to get through school, Not worried about the fools. Sadness is a sickly plague, Hits us almost every day. I don’t know why we are here, Or whats in our atmosphere.
But I do know one thing my dear, When I die please bury me here.
They say the twenties are the golden age, Struggling for work at minimum wage. Arguments come all day and night, I don’t know just why we fight. Drink on the week and the weekends too, It helps me feel like im not so blue. Go hit the bowl and take another shot, All my thoughts are gathered in a knot. One day we'll have better days, Climb out of this gloomy haze. I don’t know when things will ease up, Or when the rain will fill our cups.
But I do know one thing my dear, When I die please bury me here.
My hair is gray and time has flown, Our kids are leaving our small home. You seem to forget all the time, I pour another glass of wine. The doctor says its set in deep, But you keep asking why I weep. You don’t know just where we are, It stays silent as I drive the car. Dementia has you in its hold, Yet you still seem live and bold. You know you are my best friend, I know I'll stay until the end.
And I do know one thing my dear, When youre gone Ill bury you here.
