A Poem by AndrewWrites
"

A piece I wrote in a pretty short amount of time. I feel it puts light on a very real issue, but thats just my opinion.

"

Hate is what fuels the great American machine,

The greedy and the wealthy sit and watch their diamonds gleam.

They sit and watch the hungry starve and take another bite,

Spend another stack and there's a party every night.

The man who goes hungry and sleeps in the dark,

Has a small tent in the bushes at the park.

He and his children are struggling to survive,

While the strong elite in America can thrive.

A man can die of sickness because the payments out of reach,

While a rich man buys another large house on the beach.

Refuse to speak to lower class cause they're the bottom shelf,

If this applies to you, then take a look at yourself.

People argue who's better Trump or Hilary,

Who they think should hold the presidential victory.

Either way the only thing they'll do is hold you down,

Telling me to pick between the liar or the clown.

Both rich and powerful and don’t care about you,

Claim they’ll help the people with those thousand dollar shoes.

Hate is what fuels the great American machine,

The greedy and the wealthy dominate the scene.

Until we free ourselves from the greed and the hate,

Nothing else can fuel us and its not up for debate.

Author's Note

AndrewWrites
I have a couple things I would like to add as a way to show my opinion on our world, if you are interested in knowing. First point, I have no problem with someone being wealthy and spending their hard earned money on anything they want. My problem lies where people can have excess amounts of money and have tons of nice things and not look around them at the world where some live in poverty and not try to help. I dont believe people should be given hand outs, but you can help people or at least provide them an opportunity to become better and it isnt a handout when you are helping someone better themselves.
Second point, I am not going to state my political candidate I stood by, but I am an independent and it was neither Trump nor Hilary. (Also, I was unable to vote as I just missed the deadline.)

Feel free to rate this poem, comment, criticize, etc. I dont mind.

I sort of rhyme all the time, I loved the sentiments and the anger. I can relate to all of that. I do feel however that if you are going to rhyme as you do you need to sharpen up the meter of it all. Far too many syllables in some lines or indeed too few
