Sharing is Caring

Sharing is Caring

A Poem by John

If I shut up today
and went about my way,
would I deserve the time
I've been given to live this life?

If you went about your business
and refused to bear witness
to the wrong you see
and just let it be,

could you look me in the eye
to see the tears you made me cry?
If you turned your back to it all
and left me up against the wall?

Would you be able to live on,
even though you know it's wrong,
what they're doing to us now
is it just because you didn't know how?

How to rise against, how to rise above,
how to conquer the world with love?
It takes some time, I'll show you all,
but I can't do it alone, I'm afraid I'll fall.

I think your poems are better when they don't rhyme. You have very serious concepts and the rhyming (particularly the massive amounts of perfect rhymes,"all, wall, fall, etc") make this piece sound more childish than it is.

Thought I'd give you actual criticism instead of the fluffy, "good work, keep it up," that everyone seems to be doing.
