Ruins

Ruins

A Poem by Andrew Rayne
"

You are not a ruin.

"
You are no ruin.
You are both green and vibrant,
with life growing at the base of your roots
on their own accord.
These little flowers do not ask
and take comfort and delight in your shadow.
They grow around you,
lean towards your strength
which offers them so safe a prop.
You are no ruin.
You are the woodbine overflowing with freshness.
