Wishing on Dandelions

Wishing on Dandelions

A Poem by Andrew Rayne
"

All the reasons that barely scratch the surface, of why I love you.

"

You said I was the only one who cares.

That my smile makes you fall deeper,

and that you can smile even when rain pours from your eyes.

That I would fight for you,

think of you,

and never give up on you.

You said you were tired of being alone.

I'm a thousand miles away,

and yet I can still feel the warmth when you smile through my phone.

I wanted to make you never feel alone again.

To breath into your broken dreams the way

the color of peoples eyes can revive the little lights we hold in our hearts.

The way brown eyes sing lullabies I didn't even know existed.

The kind of songs that can only be found in smiles.

Lyrics painting the picture of my world

with all the stars I never saw until they were staring back at me.

Filled with an energy unlike all the others.

Graced with beauty that blooms like groves of dandelions

that sail through the air after a kiss steals the wish from your lips.

A picture paints a thousand words,

but if someone showed me yours I can only say one:

"Wow."

If someone asked me to pick you out from the crowd,

I would tell them to look for the girl who's eyes could steal your attention

and carry an entire conversation without uttering a single word.

Who's soul is so beautiful you'll sleep,

and fall in love with the way you'll remember it.

As such,

I have learned the reasons why I can't sleep.

Some say it is because I am awake in another dream.

I would think,

it is because you have become my moon,

and I love the way you light up the night.

You asked me to tel you why it is,

I love you.

My greatest fear is,

that I will sing the same chorus everyone else did.

I don't want to play the chords of old songs.

I want to paint your heart with words that are yours alone.

To create melodies only you can hear,

and harmonies only you can breath life into.

To show you just how beautiful you truly are.

I am in love with the way,

you have loved me.

In the way you have fallen into me,

the way dandelions do.

With a wish.
