3 poemsA Poem by Andrew Leoright off the top of my headThe
Elegance of the Miraculous
It’s
easy to think there is a link Between
the planned and the spontaneous Chaos
in chronological order Or
a singular synchronicity Of
course such thinking is ingenuous Pure
folly, madness or close to the brink Tantalizing
yes, but erroneous Thoughts
fit to be tied, easy to slaughter Incomprehensible
sheer lunacy The
elegance of the miraculous
Waiting
This
is not a place more
like a point that indicates the space between
two faces which arrival and departure creates and erases separate
and alone a
zone all its own that
widens the gap and
sets the trap we
define as waiting
Notions
of True Love Disintegrate
I
go to places full of faces many
are having fun a
few are on the run there
is genius and madness laughter
and sadness here
to learn , here for kicks serious
and foolish all in a mix side
by side the down trodden and the lofty all
trying to relax, all drinking coffee she
stands alone so far from home she
makes me think there is a link for
the two of us being here and
not god knows where. I
look at her and she looks at me there
is a smile I’m glad to see she
moves slowly and with grace heading
towards me at a steady pace again
she smiles, time stands still this
is our moment, this is the thrill her
beauty is great to behold while
her youth reminds me I am old then
she asks if I’m looking for a date and
all my notions of true love disintegrate ---------------------------------------
