BFF...Best Fake Friend

When your closest ally become the most dangerous enemy.

You go to them in your time of need.

You ask for their guidance when you are lost.

You tell them your deepest, darkest secrets.

You hope they can understand you,

Oh but they understand

They understand.

They know what you love, who you love.

They know what makes you smile

What makes you cry.

They can tell when you're lying

But you can't tell they've been lying to you.

Upfront they console you

They mend your broken heart

Your broken skin on your wrists.

They stop you from touching the forbidden blade

And slicing through pale flesh.

They ask you what's wrong,

They listen to your problems

They understand,

Or that's what you thought.

Behind your back they spill your secrets.

They compare notes with other Best Fake Friends.

They know what makes you smile

And they know what makes you hurt.

They know that what they say will make you squirm.

They know which buttons to click

To make your heart miss a beat.

They fill the gap of loneliness,

A gap that you felt unable to be filled.

You finally get a best friend,

A new family member.

A new hope.

During the day they bring you joy,

But at night the real fun begins for them.

They talk, and talk, and talk

About all the things wrong with you,

All the things that you do.

About how you talk too much about someone.

How your clothes aren’t up to par.

How you bring problems that don't involve them.

You have the voice in your head fueling these fears,

These suspicions.

You try to ignore it because these people are your BFF’s right?

You confront them asking if you do anything to upset them.

They just flash their snake eyes, and smile real big,

“Oh you are our friend, we would never talk behind your back”

And with those words you feel safe once again,

Resting in the lion's cage.

Oh but you’ll never find out.

They will always be there.

Don't worry,

Don’t cry,

Don't throw a fit.

After all, what more do you need,

Than a

Best

Fake

Friend.
