HauntingA Poem by A.N. AlexeiEmpty not is the casket Without a sound mind
Empty is the craddle
That still rocks along No one plays the instrument But continues the song Empty are the shoes on the ground That leave a trail behind Empty not is the casket Without a sound mind And now comes the soul Without a body at hand It can hear children laugh And continue to play in the sand Now it comes for them, And in anger it grew bigger then before They hear they hear the shallow breaths as it creeps behind their door It took them by hand Bringing them with it The adults hear the crying But take it as a fit Once the silence came The adults began to worry They called for the children Then ran to them in a hurry They saw the darkness and screamed But now only silence can be heard Nothing, not the sway of the trees Or the chirps of a bird
