Poisonous Fruits and Venomous DrinksA Poem by Andre Waters IIA garden so peaceful, Even Eve would take another bite.I'm awaken and bruised Fresh holes in my shoes Surrounded by a garden in bloom. A garden Adam and Eve would've approved But something doesn't feel so pleasing A look around disbelieving All that is here is really relieving And while the plants are evergreen There's the strangest fruit I've ever seen I'm not so sure Of this one, looking too pure. This one looks more Than a delicious cure. I fight with the inner me To take a bite or let it be. He tires and sickens me even in a place full of peace So I shunned him out of my body Dividing us in two. I walk over to the fruit And pick it up as my emotion grows jolly The inner me yells "I warned you." From across the room. I Ignored, and bit into my desire And then the chemicals began trigger like a trip wire. My body shakes and drops, Hitting the floor in a flop My eyes spin on their own, My lungs turn to stone. The forbidden fruit enters as I'm grounded alone. Seeking any antidote Thriving for refreshment as I choke My thirst grows as the cotton in my throat The pond is all but near Crawling am I, looking for anything to cope With the deathly poison, any liquid to soak And my mouth begins to fill with soap. Finally, I've reached the pond Full of any drink I can imagine to fond But I made the mistake twice over As I drink, in an instant, The venom kicks in. My bloodstream tainted With the deadliest of medicine I've fallen, I've fainted Wonderless in deadly land As I lay dying, I warn you of the trouble on the brink of this land, Poisonous Fruits and Venomous drinks.
