My Dream

My Dream

A Poem by Andra Davis

Over a misty valley of pain
You come to me in a dream again
In an embrace very tight
We could break to bits and fly away
In the melting pools of light

I pray for a prayer of love
But ravens peck away my words
Angered at me for spoiling the calm
Of a silent night that must never be stirrred

Touching me softly, healing me within
Slipping on my finger, a silver ring
You kiss and mend my broken wings
Leaving me filled with a joyful dance
You slip into a cloud of chance
Fading into a wall of dark mist

Your breath still warm on my skin
Your love taking new root in me
I rise from my hazel dream
Sure and beautiful again
The way I once used to be

A type of sensual dream someone yearning for love or perhaps even for that lost love to one day return in physical form, for now though, sleep brings with it a little comfort, the sweet surrender of slumber if even all is not perfect ..

' I pray for a prayer of love
But ravens peck away my words '

this piece beautifully captures longing and woe for something missed. that someone, perhaps idealised in our minds, who pays visits to us in hazel dreams... something relateable and poignant. the mesmerising dream sequence was done beautifully, and the optimistic ending that defies convention was well writ.

You are welcome.
Time when only one person can heal the hurt or.. love in the way needed and forever treasured. You gently beckoned from your sadness and it.. he.. noticed, beckoned and smiled you close and warm. A dream come true. Gentle words, finely laid. Thank you fir sharing, Andra.

Dreaming is but thinking while we sleep. If we die, we stop dreaming and the reverse too is true.

Thank you Sapphus. :)
Andra, the depiction of a dream is really amazing here. We emerge from a dream sometimes with a strong aftertaste and you expressed that perfectly here. I could feel the strong presence of someone from the past. A renewal, a re-emergence rises from your words. Beautifully write, my friend

A very healing dream which restored the dreamer to a place in her life when she looked good, felt good and was happy and confident again. Like this poem very much, Andra. Thank you for sharing... Lovely work!
