WAITING FOR THE BUS

WAITING FOR THE BUS

A Poem by Andy Ruffett
"

Sounds

"

Motors:

“VRRRRROOOM!”

The “click, click” of heels is heard as

chatter ensues along the sidewalk

“Who are you?”

“You look really young.”

“Now? Wow.”

“It’s a good thing we’re big kids.”

Now the bus is here

Soon the sound of clapping of feet hitting

the pavement is heard

No one wants to miss the 97

It won’t come for another half hour

“Buh bump! Buh bump!”

The sound of cars going over speed bumps

The clicking of a pen is heard

as the boy tries to find something decent to write down

Then suddenly,

SILENCE

I look around

The world has stopped moving

And I wonder,

am I just a body in space?

It's true.
I'm impressed with the meter in this one. Each line flowed with fluidity. Nice images too. I like the detail too. Nice one.
