Dinner with MyselfA Poem by Andy RuffettWe sometimes don't want to, but sometimes we have toI asked if anyone would like to join me for dinner tonight They all just sighed and shook their heads and said they had to study this time
I asked the ones who wore pants and the ones who wore a dress But it seemed I was out of luck, so I invited myself as my guest
From my experience I have found that he can be pretty nice He sits there quietly and listens to my advice He’s always in need when I have problems to solve And he knows when its time to speak and when its time to shut up
And as I got my dinner, he was already there Helping me pay for the food And he was never reluctant to share
We bought the same meal and ate it at the same time We drank the same water and pondered over the same wine
Should we drink it or should we not? It’s a special occasion we say, Dinner with myself is a time of peace, so let’s celebrate © 2011 Andy Ruffett |
