"Crystal Unicorns..."

"Crystal Unicorns..."

A Poem by Chris
"

Just another day

"

I remember when I first heard Bobbie Gentry's - "Refractions"... I was just back from overseas and could finally afford the albums that had come out for a while.  I bought several hundred at the Marine Corps Exchange all at once.  One of near everything.  Damn, was a long time since I remembered that.

Some things touched us - when we laid down.  Some we never forgot - just buried until sunsets bring them back.  Sometimes we even breathe ...or wish we couldn't.

"Crystal Unicorns..."

Quite a song...
Thompson Square - "Glass"

Quite... I listened and remembered:
Bobbie Gentry - "Refractions"

Seems we have our own memories
signs of different times ...and yet

it's still the same time afterall

when the sun sets

and the dreams flow

and the star light shimmers.

We hope for everything
dream and wish

we reach beyond moonlight

as the heartbeats echo

within and behind our eyes.

And we find

the softest smiles

within as for moments

we really, really know

we aren't alone

...until we awake.

and then - well
it's just another day

always just another -

day ...somehow.

It's true, Chris, and this is the reason I sometimes I wish to sleep it all away, but for those few hours of peace and difference and whatever we see out of the norm that you noted we experience when we dream, is nothing more than that... A dream. Alas, we always have to wake up and face the world, life's not a fairytale, though I have wished thus countless times. We could play pretend and be ignorant, but in the end, reality is always there to stare us in the eyes, force us to stare back, see what life really holds in store for us.
Maybe this is the reason for dreams, a break from life, from living, from this hellhole we sometimes house in. But when the morning sun shines through our drapes, beckoning for us to return to earth, we have to awake. We always have to awake.

we all share the human equation don't we, we all go through the same routines, we all feel the same things, each stage of life and each moral lesson experienced on our own personal level, but still experienced just the same, I read and read and everywhere I see the same heartaches, the same heart breakers, the same dawn, the same sunset...what IS the meaning of life, 'O great coffee guru, I really need to know...what IS the point? Is it love? anyway you look at it , side to side, up or down crossways and into the infinite... when we will we ever learn the truest meaning without reaching, Is there a safe way to learn without all the pitfalls?

I didn't know you could add class to class, but I was wrong. The music adds an extra touch of class to the classic Chris... who in my opinion, is in a class of his own.
Well done, friend.

I can't hold with 'just another day ~ always just another'. Surely. no day is like another, just as no human being is another. A day is time re-born, another chance, another twenty four hours to do what wasn't done before, ad infinitum. Sleep prepares us for that new dawn, our dreams' experience show us how, what, why, where. If we experience that waking loneliness, tis our own internal self-made one - undreamed, diluted by colourless expectation.

How beautiful is this .. 'We hope for everything ~ dream and wish~ we reach beyond moonlight ~ as the heartbeats echo ~ within and behind our eyes.' See how your words make a mind think, you encourage a reviewer to choose which side of a fence to stand, feet firmly placed, smiling, contented

The songs are special, each in its own way .. the lyrics in the one, the performance of the other .. however, my choice not given.

Chris this is such a beautiful poem. Everyday is a beautiful day! Count the blessings we have such as: we breathe, we wake up in the early morning and feel the sun shine, we are alive, to smell the morning coffee, etc. :) Have a good night Chris!
