"There's No Kiss In Your Eyes..."

A Poem by Chris

I'm recontinuing the Cafe Series... with this

"

"There's No Kiss In Your Eyes..."

You ever notice how you purrrrrrrrrrrr
when you focus on

- thought I was going to say me didn't you?
  well I didn't...

puppies and kittens.

How the sun FEELs so damn good

in your eyes...
how that first taste of
cold winter's air just bites
and makes you FEEL so
...alive.

I make snowballs
- still -
and throw them
hard
and damn accurate too
- and laugh
and duck
- well - for ANY age.

No one asks me to make a snowman anymore...
I miss that.

I don't curse the snow I shovel

- never have, that's strange I guess

but
I like snow
and how it feels, tastes, touches me back.
Seems there's a Snow Angel in every bank...
and the feel of crystals
each as unique as we.

It's not the taste of coffee
that draws me

holds me
- nor it's aroma
as the wisps meander to heaven

- one cup at a time...
It's the thought of the anchor
that binding HOLD
that keeps me focused and from floating off and
...away
and yet it still gets cold
while setting unnoticed and unheld and

...untasted and unwanted after all the herald's smiles

and teasings told.

I don't like water... theres no HEART to water
no ...squeezing GRASP to be had
no ...warmth shared
no ...bitter dregs to be mind-chewed
and eye-candy.

I never want to be told
"There's no kiss in your eyes..."

:)
Behind these antique windows,
there's a little boy who wants to play
in the Snow.

I loved this whole thing.

HOWEVER,
I must disagree with you on water.

When I stand in the river,

dive into the ocean,

jump up and down in a mud puddle
in my church shoes (lol),

I'm home.

i just love that last line, the little sparkle that brightens the world. i liked how you left me seeing snow in ways i had not thought about for a while (we've not had any this year it has been very mild in the uk) as if snow is something we don't just see but interact with- throwing snowballs, building snowmen. this brought back some happy memories- and ofcourse those 'puppies and kittens' -totally adorable! lots to think about here.

This was breathtaking and tremendously uplifting. I wish to feel as you do. I want to see with your eyes and truly behold...for there is more than a "kiss" to be observed...what you have shared, is the true essence of life! I have a smile to wear the rest of my day. Thank you.

Sounds like one who loves living life, and appreciates each moment. So few of us do that. Your piece also speaks of the finer things, those which make a lasting impression on us, as opposed to the mundane nuances which barely get our attention (coffee versus water). Loved this piece.

I never liked cold coffee .. It seems old, not it's self .. .. I have made snow-angels when I lived in Ohio ... and thrown a few snow balls .. .. But all who shared .. are gone now, leaving behind a few good memories .. .. Not sure if you are writing about snow, or coffee .. or kittens , exactly .. But I do get "There's no kiss in your eyes" .. Feels like a shame to waste that HOT coffee, leave it alone, untouched.. When at one time is was soooo full of flavor, and you loved it so .. .. I think you like winter, because it speaks to you in so many ways .. and reminds of other winter doings .. .. Well time for a second cup, moving very slow today .. .. Thinking even slower .. .. Always love to read your words Chris ..

Jazz .. ..
