"Another Empty Ringtone..."

"Another Empty Ringtone..."

A Poem by Chris

"Another Empty Ringtone..."

Where do we begin
  to lose our friends -
the ones closer than god
                        and blood
        and even our skin.

Where do we begin?

We used to 'play' - outside
             then inside,
                   then for real -
and we shared
  the light,
    dark, and every
thing
           and moment
and breath.

We spoke of every one
and God'ed-this-and-that
and damned-them-all.

We dreamed "sillies"
  and "stupids".
We laughed and cried and were
          ourselves -
   no smoke or mirrors.

I trusted you with...
                                  me.

and then...

We went our ways
and yes, life - life brought us back
and forthandbackandforth
and it wasn't the same... anymore

it wasn't US                anymore

and I reached and reached
and you mysted through my fingers' tips
   and my eyes and mind
     filled
and my heart cried...

I cried.

Where do we begin
  to lose our friends -
the ones closer than god
                        and blood
        and even our skin.

I don't know...

but we do,
     we always do...

Chris

Jacob has also caused the ring of the hammer on the nail in his comment...to you Chris, (something common you make very un-common with your wording) me thinks it is the heart of you is so unique...but then I know an exquisite heart can feel exquisite pain.....

Sadly, it happens, people change, life changes gears, so many different reasons, but they all affect us the same way.....

this is significant for me...i have some friends i have had for 40 years or more now...

they have stuck...but others who had gone a little more than half that...they disappeared...and it makes me wonder...what did i do? or was it that they just wandered off?

good poem Chris...

something common you made very un-common with your wording.

My tears were shed/shared here and I have read this 5 times before sleep xx

To hold onto
or return
sometimes
isn't it our choice
when the tide turns
is it?

Try as we might...life does steal some things from us...sweet Goddess, this resonated and left me feeling so so sad...

Remarkable xx

Now Im crying, this was so moving, and emotional, especially for me , for me to read.
I can relate so much with this. You have written this so well and so beautiful.
Awesome piece,
So glad I stopped in for a bit, hoping to find something wonderful to read, and I have.

A wonderful poem. I can easily relate to the sentiment you have penned down. The structure accentuates the overall effect of the work. Its simple and beautiful. Well done.

beautiful story of the love/loss cycle. I'm not sure if it every breaks completely or just loops back around. I like the stop-and-go flow, very affective and relative to the overall piece

It's so sad how people change and how those changes affect the people around them. This is very well written and I enjoyed memories portrayed here.
