"Wishing For Intimacy..."

"Wishing For Intimacy..."

A Poem by Chris
"

Grand River Cafe - A September Morn

"
Your mind sees what the heart misses...
and your eyes see - all the 'fractals'.

"Wishing For Intimacy..."

Another morning flowing
meandering
wistful and wish-full
thought and yet staring - full.

Living through the emptiness -
not a missing... just more than that;
just more than wanting - than unshared,
and yet less than silence...
a need for presence
and even the sense of absence.

I sit watching moments fold
listening to minds echoing
and voices scaled to others' reality...
awaiting - the taste of the air
I breathe
to hold what I don't dream.

The after-image of coffee-induced
awakenings -
a few unmeant smiles... life-weary eyes.
The sound of other mugs rising,
being held -
lightly, softly, care-full-ly,
tightly, barely,
in need of two-handed grasps.

So many eyes
they just slip and slide by -
afraid to be caught
held
or even to pause...
if I catch one will it become
a pair -
will the soul leak and spill
flow into -
...me -
if just for an instant
as, or until - the other wrenches them away.
Will I feel even less - as that
not-me flows out and away
to where their I awaits?

I wonder if a not-me I
will understand my why?
Will they remember at all
for a moment
I smiled
.

The connectivity of a pair of eyes is a moment shared like no other. I think of that when people say a Kodak moment. So much can be seen in that brief encounter, like the opening of the gates to one's soul. What truths or lies lay beyond the glimpse? In turning away are we afraid too much is revealed ? Lingering ..too much shared ?

Your smile warms the heart so how can one not remember it. A man with beautiful words whose imagery speaks not only to the heart but to the soul.

I imagined being in a coffee house while reading this, sipping away at the bitterness, though I'm in a bitter mood as of now this poem shed a little light on the pleasantries of day-to-day life. Thank you.

This is now a favorite of mine. Absolutely a favorite. The crafting, word selection, presentation, depth of thought and emotion and the voice it takes as it finds air is exceptional.

Thank you for a stunning early morning read

I find I am rather an eye catcher, not someone to look at, that isn't what I mean, I mean I love to look into peoples' eyes. Most people smile of keep the gaze, the few that don't just kind of leer like they've been assaulted.
There have been times in my life when I've felt exactly as your wonderful poem describes. i enjoy returning to all your poems just for the revisit and read again. i get more out them each time.

trippy reflective mindspeak, bracketed by starkly articulated realities, moments grasped and evaluated like a coveted fascination held in a childs hand. What I like the most is how you slow time down and the moment grows longer, fills with perceptions and realities details, and comes within reach for the reader. Thank you for the little journey into another worlds reality
