"I Told Her... But She Never REALLY Knew..."

"I Told Her... But She Never REALLY Knew..."

A Poem by Chris
"

"Quotes are our minds on stardust - a terrible thing to waste."

"
Heat is when all you CAN say is "...its an animal thing..." and mean it.

We have a public face... and an our own bit a' silliness - and being vulnerable... and we chitterchat like squirrels and jays.  All the circles we run, circling and circling - up, down, and around... its such a sad and exhuberant dance... all the rainbows wasted
all the raindrops shared - all the eyes starin' out from so many tenement windows... silent halls begging for footsteps...

"I Told Her... But She Never REALLY Knew..."

I'ld walk a park with you
and never notice the children playing
or hear a dog's bark...
see picnics being shared
nor doves being their bothersome and yet
endearing selves...

I'ld walk a park with you
just found in your voice,
held in your eyes
meandering in and out of your laugh
pause... and intently touch your hands
and mean the wish
it would never end...

in a heartbeat...
but you never really
knew.

we find ourselves a place apart
behind light words that tease and flout
but, oh, the agitated heart
till someone find us really out

tis pity if the case require
or so we say that in the end
we speak the literal to inspire
the understanding of a friend

but, so with all from babes that play
at hide and seek to God afar
that all who hide too well away
must speak and tell us where they are
