"The best laid plans of mice and men... sigh..."

"The best laid plans of mice and men... sigh..."

A Poem by Chris
"

A good title.

"

"The best laid plans of mice and men… sigh."

We want to do so much - in our nows,

most often the things we sooo wanted to do,

but put off …and off

…busy…

always too busy.

So… we put them on “lists”

(often just behind our eyes)

…but…

we're too tired now - or still

no time, no time, notimenotimenotime

as we run and run and fall further behind.

Ever notice how our "moments" cost more now -

more of us, more life, more effort, more

…more… everything - that we have less and less of?

Or the places to go, to BE, to see-to do-to experience -

aren't places anymore -

or we can’t DO the doing -

or the “mysterious” they,

no longer match our expectations.

Or the knowing that as we turn

to share - the silence is all that awaits.

The dreams we had

(I had dreams too...),

some sooo secret and held so tight.

Some just whimsy - moments filling silence.

Others, -mares way, way too real - too full of

life's happenings.

Sometimes even our hopes were …dreams.

In our nows -

all the lil hurts dominate,

the "grumps" became personal.

When is life fair?  Patience - really?

when tomorrow is a maybe…

Even mournings have a cost…

And coffee too.

There is the coffee, Chris. May every morning have a cup of coffee or a libation of your choice. Time is a battle-axe, pushing us about and forcing us to get things done. Sometimes I just take time by the scruff of its collared neck and tell it to slow down a bit. Some times it even feels like it is listening. I enjoyed your write very much:) Haven't seen you for a while. I hope you are well:)

...and too true.
We do stop and take the time to regret not taking the time to do that which we really want to do but are often afraid to try to do. So, we sip our coffee and think of what we will put off today...and never get to tomorrow.
and then we write about dreams....that are somehow not palpable.
I have the "grumps" at times....wishing I had used my life more wisely than I have.
