"Along Came Wednesday..."

"Along Came Wednesday..."

A Poem by Chris
"

Remembering how to breathe ...again

"

"Along Came Wednesday…"

It's nearly quiet now -

raindrops barely continue to hit-and-miss

across the skylights and roof,

though still beading up on the window panes 'til

rivulets flow and fall away in the wavering dark.

No lightning

just lamp reflections shimmering

along gossamer strands of woven myst.

And the mind flows on…

Another 3 A.M. moment just passed

and here I sit remembering how

to breathe again

as the ghosts crowd close

and the edges of my vision fade into black.

I can hear my breath

each pause …and start…

and end - but it doesn't

end….

it and I continue

and the thoughts

…continue

and the rain continues

and sometimes you don't really WANT

to remember

how to

breathe… again

but you do.

Smiles always seem to fill the tears

that join the mysts

that walk the nights

that leave behind so many dreams

and wishes that you held

so very, very       tight

'til your mind remembers

what is

and isn't anymore

…and the next breath begins…

and THAT ghost fades…

into the next and next and next.

The Cheshire Eyes looking in

fill the pains with rainbows

and the unicorns dance and dance

while the faerie folk play

'til your heart leaks all over again…

and as the rains fall behind your eyes

the fingertips curl

and make gestures through the air

and the MAGYK…

the MAGYK WEAVES anew!

And each yesterday is a “now”

And that “now” fills each pause

'til the next start takes it away…

…leaving me to remember

how to …breathe… again…

and now it's 4 that’s passed.

I think I like those first two stanzas the best, they could stand alone but they'd tell a different story. This is an uncomfortable read but very well done as always

Some one once said that the hour mentioned knows all our secrets. This is as true a description of a persons thoughts and happenings through that time as I have ever read. I can say that because I feel the same.
This write is complex, intelligent, moving, empathic and bloody good whilst talking about the darkest thoughts of the night. The dark time of the daily soul. How the hell do you do that?

Chris,
"Along Came Wednesday" Many complex layers exist within the being of humanity. I really appreciated this interplay of memories, influences, difficulties and etc, that can struggle with a person's heart and mind on a daily basis and particularly when we can be so alone with our thoughts. Nice work!!.......................................Blessings kathy

Simply put, amazing. You put into words so eloquently what some of us only hope doesn't happen to us let alone being able to speak its existence. Very well don brother.

Now.. .. inhale .. feel the air kiss the heart and mind. Such beautiful wording - and visual to the nth degree.

Chris, poetry that has all the words and thoughts weaved tightly together- wonderfully composed and deeply meaningful.

THAT's what we do you and I Lance... remembering the hows between the needs arising from the whens.
A beautiful, heartfelt poem. I especially love the first two verses: they were very moving and gave me shivers and a smile.

"...shivers and a smile." A good beginning. Pause with me anytime.
whew! i feel exhausted! ... i feel thankful it has "passed" ... i can see this clearly ..the poet musing ..on the birth of hump-day of all days to pick :) ...so much of rain is so significant .. who can not relate?! we certainly do paint the past with happy thoughts and melancholy reminiscences ... such a treat to be contemplating Magyk while drifting to sleep (finally) at 4 AM ... gossamer ...overworked and you say "woven myst." really wish i had thought of that one ;) a privilege to be invited to this special morning :)
