I am…

“Someday’s Son…”

I need a someday time -

You know the ones I mean?

Like when its maybe a mom that always says

the sun will reach down

and part your clouds… (and chuckling here)

and hell - it does -

even if just THAT once - it does!?

A someday time.

A time when dads still believe

In who they are and how to dream -

a someday time.

Someday…

Comes the morning -

and fingertips glisten-gleam

and everything feels warm and new.

The air enwraps with the softest scents,

and remembered smiles came as naturally too…

And it’s easy turning the pages of life’s book

as one by one the days flow

into lives so casually accepted.

Each chapter fresh,

paragraph after paragraph marking

the eves …coming as expected…

A someday time.

I need a someday time -

walked enough dark.

Marked Chapter and Verse.

Lived as the storms lost their glamor

And lightnings their sheen -

feeling a bit dog-eared and world-worn

You know what I mean?

A someday time.

Soldiers, sailors, “Semper FI” marines -

how will history record us and the places we’ve been.

A someday time…

And after comes the hawk,

and love wanders far.

Being real is all we are.

The pain …given and seen…

we’ve all got our walls now

that glisten ebony mean.

And in our minds are the words,

the sounds of days of nights

and the Dreams…

damn the dreams.

I need a someday time.

And the days tick and tick

and all the diamonds blinking

as thoughts fill the sky

and the stars keep falling one-by-one.

Here I sit and remember

Back and back and

back to what I never had…

Gawd, I needed a someday time.

we all need a Someday Time....maybe some kind of interlude, a break from how it is, how it was, how it is going to be...because life just kind of happens...but there are those one of a kind events that make life interesting...maybe we long for more of those...

we promise ourselves, someday, someday, someday...
but as credence sang..."you better run fast you better run young, cause someday never comes"

Don't we all dream of the someday time that has been buried so deep like Atlantis, so hard to find and reclaim. But I think it is up to us to make that someday time happen, or we will be waiting and deteriorating. Very profound write, as always yours are.

I liked the poem and I need to listen to the open mic tonight. I listen to pieces of it.

A lot of good words making the reader think and ponder. The goal of the writer. Thank you my friend for sharing the excellent poetry.

The elusive search for the "someday time." I really enjoyed the subtle change from present to past "Gawd, I needed a someday time." Lord knows, I (and others) do, too.

Likewise. :)
Chris. This was a poem that I became totally immersed in. It captures that longing we all hold inside for those idyllic 'someday's', those moments where it all comes together and we truly relax and enjoy the incredible gift that is our life. You touched me with this poem and that second, oh so brief stanza honestly made me cry, though not from sadness.

I hope beyond hope that dads will always believe in who they are.

Beccy.

Always, your words combine in a real life mish mash of dark and light, happy and sorrow -- we are all and we are nothing, we are more and we are something. Your writing is something special that is for sure.

Someday never comes all to often. I think we have to make time and create our own somedays. Or perhaps they are already here and we are too busy to notice them, until they have passed us by.
I like that you took us through a gamut of somedays, not really settling on any one vision. It helps us explore what our someday may be.

Chris...sometimes I don't review your work. Not because i didn't like it or because it didn't touch me, rather because it did and I am left speechless. You have a tremendous ability to touch with your words. This left me aching :(

someday's and tomorrows are both some days that we all take for granted, so today my friend, I bought a hummingbird bush and a humming bird feeder , a rose bush and two rocking chairs, and I hope tomorrow comes and brings the sun with it cause I'm going to sit and pause and breathe. ..and I might even drink a cup or two of coffee on that rocking chair.

Sweet thoughts for a morning's view
we’ve all got our walls now

that glisten ebony mean.

And in our minds are the words,

the sounds of days of nights..........

These words said so much about a Someday ..
Promises , hopes
Perhaps lost, in misty waiting weighted minds/hearts

Little smiles, and softest kissable cheeks
Make my days complete
And there is no waiting
for Someday to come..
or reason to dwell in that dark.

Thank you for serving Chris..
And thank you for sharing your most special Poetry..
