"Come The Dawn..."

"Come The Dawn..."

A Poem by Chris
"

breathe

"

“Come The Dawn…”

Step, pivot …step…

pause…breathe

look toward the East,

watch the sky -

watch,

wait, wait for it…

step, step,

feel my heart beat

feel…

feel…breathe

pause

- whisper "…bye…"

Step, pivot …step…

Face away,

face away - don’t turn

don’t look - can’t see anyway -

never see

ever see - shiver, feel

shivershake breathe

step, step.

Dawns a l w a y s come

always comes

Forever

Evermores -

are always mysts…

Listen to one heart… beat,

exhale slowly.

Step, step

another and another

blink the eyes clear

…pause…breathe…

step, pivot …step…

Face away,

Face away…

- whisper

You always whisper

always a whisper

always a myst…

always

…comes

…the dawns

Welcome back...
Reminds me of the military. Stepping, pivoting, facing away. My son was in the Air Force for six years and did a lot of this type of thing in his basic training and beyond. It helped him focus on the things that mattered. You did well with this! :)

Hello again... having a good day - at least for a Monday?
A poetic dance of stepping and pivoting to meet the coming dawn following the heaviness of night... there is such anticipation in the words, in the 'whispers'... the heartbeat never sounds stronger than when heard in the dark and i felt its sound in this one...

I AM glad you're back...
That was music to my ears, yet I can't tell why I had, when reaching the end of it, a sense of fright. Perhaps tis because the dawn is portrayed, to my eyes at least, as a fatality. Though dawns are usually bright...I guess I shouldn't have felt afraid.

Anyways, the words you chose are appealing to the senses, and the ellipsis too.

"Evermores -
are always mysts…"

That gave me a shiver.

Feeling fear means you survived your own dawns ...at least sometimes...
Life can be easy if we tell ourselves that tomorrow is a new day that surely comes, and that tomorrow we can make a positive change in our life, so that the nights won't feel so haunting or dejected.
