"Christmas..."

"Christmas..."

A Poem by Chris
"

...have a wonder-full Christmas and an amazing New Year...

"

Some times are more “interesting” - ya know what I mean?  That old curse - “Have an interesting life…” - really happens.  And some survive, and some …well, they try.

Sometimes you pause, and some times you’re paused.  Sometimes you pause just to speak with people - people that aren’t “yours” - they aren’t related to you - but you know when you LOOK at them that …that they just wanna talk.

“Christmas…”

No lil one... it isn’t just you.

- catch your breath -

Beginnings are as we  …find

our selves.

This is just another "meager" year...

McDonald's has often been out of reach,

But we're not speaking of me...

tis you.

Christmas...

The silly rhymes...

People caught up in commercial lines.

Same tired music.

Same tired things.

Getting angrier and angrier...

And then there’s

Christmas...

A kitchen table -

a handmade and drawn card

with "Tigger" boinging 'cross the front...

“Siiiilent Night, Hoooly Night”, and

mom’s tears falling one-by-one…

And then

a dark chill room - no tree nor lights...

a parent just "passed" last week.

Times are tight.

…and then…

10 fresh loaves of bread... 50 cents apiece...

left silently on the porch of the "God's Meal Barrel"

to say the best "thanks for the help" I could.

It wasn’t much but it was what I had.

Christmas …

It ain't about the shopping...

It ain't about the "me"...

It ain't 'bout money.

It's about the "you's"...

It's about what's inside.

It's about your heart lil one... and where it’s at.

The rest don't matter none at all.

We all dream as we can

…and candy canes and

candles and wishes,

snowmen and soap icicles

…fill in the dark

and leave eyes a-glistening

in the silence.

“Merry Christmas…”

This is a very thoughtful Christmas reflection, getting to the essence of what Christmas is all about, not just it's garish facade of banal and trite traditions which amount to little substance for those who see beyond the glitter. Thanks for sharing, and Merry Christmas to you...in a heartfelt way.

Wouldn't it be great if people injected all such "Christmas spirit" into the other fifty one weeks of the year, too? After all: people go through tight times and hunger and family deaths etc throughout all seasons of the year, yet the only thing that varies month by month is the barometer on people's compassion...

Thank you for pausing and your thoughts... come by anytime.
A good reminder to us all of what is really important this time of year.
Merry Christmas to you too.

She is 11 yrs. old now
No one is home
No tree, no hugs..nothing
Merry Christmas
Someone said
But let's send money.?
Somewhere else..
Money can't hug
Has no Love..
Eyes should sparkle
In wonder,on THAT morn..
But Silent Nights
and silent days
And Unloved ways
Are the norm
She is 11yrs. old now
And no one is home.

"Merry Christmas" dear Chris...
"Happy New Year"..

You touch so many hearts.. Your words are gift to us all....♥

you too, Chris....and this poem really hits home....we have lost the real meaning of christmas...

the old, real trees, the big bulbed lights...midnight mass, the texture of it has changed so much...black friday on thanksgiving thursday..christmas music being played the day after Halloween, it starts so early for the shopping days, it ends at midnight dec.26---put all the frills away...and what does the heart feel?

it is starving like all those kids who get no christmas...who can't afford anything to eat...but we just keep wrapping more and more presents, don't we?
