"Shenandoah..."

"Shenandoah..."

A Poem by Chris

Some moments bring a song to mind… I’ld just had one that did.  And damn, its name really fit as a title.

“Shenandoah…”

There are times

we need a river

to flow beside our thoughts

as we gaze into

our visions

of life and moments crossed…

And there are times

we touch that water

with hands so shaking …soft

and let it flow

o'er fingers' tips -

like kisses never lost.

And that river is always moving

and yet awaits me - there to pause

to hold my thoughts of an 'ever

and dreams of all that was...

…and it isn't all of tears

tisn't all about our fears

isn't even of the years…

it's just about love

…and its costs.

I used to live on a small island on a bigger island, so it was always surrounded by lakes and rivers. I used to often go down by the shore and sit there with my emotions and thoughts and the river's currents. Sometimes, I would even bring boxes full of painful memories and set them free. It was melancholy and yet healing. I really enjoyed your lovely poem, or rather song. I felt your full connectedness with the river mind, body, and soul

I felt like I was right alongside the river with you! You have a brilliant way of capturing feeling!

^^ Lots of memorable lines in here. Lovely.
I really admire your work. Thoughts seem to flow out of your poetry with little effort. Things with higher costs are always the best things in life, like love. The bigger the risk, the better the experience. Well penned my friend c:

The smile of your comment matches the avatar eye...
Love, and its costs. Indeed. Profound as ever, my friend.

I believe we are fools when it comes to love, for there's nothing we wouldn't do, to have it.

Chris you are such a gifted wonderful writer. I'd love to be your Muse if your inspiration and pen would allow for divine intervention.

it's still worth it..
I took a while to absorb this and listened to three different versions of the song - both the poem and song brought tears...
