"There Are Moments..."

"There Are Moments..."

A Poem by Chris
"

A Saturday thing

"

"There Are Moments..."

There are moments

I sometimes sit,

sometimes stand,

sometimes walk or at least try.

And others …I just am.

Moments spent

listening to the sounds -

while ...the beats within

in rhythm with

each exhale...

echo

the soft susurrations

of the nights.

Ticks,

creaks,

settlings and

rustlings …branches - crackling leaves

wind's breath shuffled and strewn…

footsteps, turning tires, iron on rails

sirens wails… forlorn whistles, lost voices -

swelling and floating, then fading

down-and-down      to nothing

my forehead on the glass

as my breath fogs

over-and-over-and-over

mysts filling my mind as eyes

‘til with fingertips weaving

and turning

and finding...

there …THERE… are the …the gentle tears

the ones still welling

still falling... ever flowing

ever knowing       tears

their magyk softly touches

touching

each eye gazing

wishing

wanting       finding - through the

looking ...glass.

There are moments

I hold closer than life

And always shall.

Chris, I have read many, many of your works and I admire following each one in its very own distinctive, intricately detailed venture. However, for reasons beyond my own knowledge, this very one- it has stuck with me since the very first time I read it. I even shared it with my writer friend, Kevin, who was also drawn in by this piece. The most I've figured about the pieces ability to drawn one in or captivate, is (for the sake of BEING completely oxymoronic for a moment), it possesses such bold endeavor but without reasoning. I can almost empathize with this yet, it's assurance to exactly what ones empathy should be extended [to], is kind of unknown. Still one of my favorite pieces!!

H'lo, was nice of you to pause... I hope you return
Such a beautiful, lingering piece that makes one pay attention to the breaths, blinks, and heartbeats that are a part of life that to seldom go unnoticed

YOU ARE WELCOME!
I love this! I've been working on an essay for an application for a pilgrimage, and for that I had to recall some of the moments that have defined my life--not the big dramatic ones, but the quiet ones, most often the ones spent gazing up at the stars or playing on rocks or meditating or walking alone. It's important to have moments to simply be.
