"The Sound Of ...magyk..."

"The Sound Of ...magyk..."

A Poem by Chris
"

Friday thoughts

"

“The Sound Of …magyk…”

If we could only speak

using the voices we hear inside.

Speaking the words

…even when they’re our words...

as our eyes scan the pages.

Deep bass, solid tenor,

baritone ...alto, melodious soprano…

brash, tight tones

smoooooooooooth tones

honeyed - alluring, drawing …tones,

accents!  Flavors!

We listen to ourselves

and hear all the "others" -

but it doesn't change the meaning of

or behind what we say.

The tones all give life and depth

to thoughts that would otherwise

be unheard at all.

'The Sound of Magyk' read like magic & I couldn't agree more with the sentiment that seemed so well threaded from beginning to end.

I really enjoyed the concept of this one. I also liked the way that you brought together the idea of how important it is to "listen" to ourselves with the sensory and audible notions of music and musical terminology. For me, the flow of this one was a bit stilted in places. I found myself reading through some of the line breaks and pausing between others. Still, this is in your signature style, and I can appreciate the imagery and the overall tone and texture of the concept.

Love your "Friday thoughts" my friend.
The ability to express ourselves in....
"Deep bass, solid tenor,
baritone ...alto, melodious soprano…
brash, tight tones
smoooooooooooth tones
honeyed - alluring, drawing …tones,
accents! Flavors!"
This reminds me of how English sounded to me before I understood the words!

mmm lovely I prefer altos and tenors but it is true combined they make beautiful music
and if only I could sound as sweet as I do in my head....

Magyk is the very spark of life. We all have our own special sound, some more in tune with others and some in discord. Just like the perfect song. Very nicely written!

Cymbals ( symbols ) mean the same no matter how they’re played. So do drums, strings, and flutes. Easy flowing free verse here. I enjoyed the middle very much.

C...like this one but need to ask why you chose 'magyk' instead of 'magic'? Thanx...bobc

To me "Magyk"is the symbol AND the word.
Wonderful! Remembering poetry in motion at the lifting of the baton and the full crescendo of his creation in word....

Barb, I'm glad you paused...you CAN send a note you know ...anytime. Chuckling here.
sweet music we can taste...those are the words that come to poets...we only hope to write them down so others can hear the music and taste the meanings like we do..

love the middle part of this...so different, but then your poetry is definitely a singular voice unlike any other...always a good read.
