"Breathing Midnights...

"Breathing Midnights...

A Poem by Chris
"

Ï read Lilly Negoi's "Hollow Space" and felt my own thoughts respond.

"

I read Lilly Negoi's "Hollow Space"and it touched me.

Seems there are many "places" where we can stand and just stare into infinity. And what we see, hear, feel, taste ...remember - was the world ...our world... as we knew it to be -or hoped it could be - wished, dreamed, even prayed... until it wasn't anything at all ...anymore.

“Breathing Midnights…”

Can you hear the whispers

on the midnaught lips pressing close?

The taste of sage with each breath,

the shiver of spring yet to come?

I can still stand

watch ...wait for the dawn...

with empty eyes

and emptier wishes

that once rang - true

and bright with more hope

than sense...

with more heart than

understanding

that even dreams end.

Can you hear

the

whispers

of nestled hearts

lying close

beating in soft harmonies?

Can you feel the moonlight's kiss?

The starlight's touch?

The tears ceased to fall

on the outside of the glass -

but the heart overflows

with each eyelid's closing

...still.

Chris

Maybe it's just me, but I really hooked onto the whole idea of 'breathing midnight' in this. I know that whenever I stay up really late (so anytime midnight and after) that I know some of the feelings you touched on in here. Midnight has always been a time of quiet reflection for me, when everyone else is asleep and only those few are awake.

This is an inspiring description to me of that feeling you get when a window is opened in the soul, letting new light in, hope for something...more, possibilities. Very well done, beautiful language and lovely light feeling throughout.

Thank you :)
I love to read your work. There is a gentle message most of the time, a comfortable pace, like natural breathing just as slumber has taken hold but before the deep sleep has settled in for the night.
Beautifully crafted!

A poet's heart never seems to abandon the optimism of its youth. Shaded, jaded, hidden but always there to continue the dream. This is so heartfelt and so you, Chris.

Good seeing you Nic...
I thought I heard a whisper of-
and I raised my head to smile
but It was just all the hearts
missing, wishing
in all the midnight's hours ..

You hearing is acute, sensitive .. and You have so much to share Chris .. of hearts that silently overflow, and care .

hugs, and thank you , Take care .. Jazz

"The shiver of spring yet to come" ..? .. wow and sigh ....
