"Breakfast..."

"Breakfast..."

A Poem by Chris
"

I paused with Ed Hart's "DNA" - thought a bit - spoke up - and damn but he got me good... I just wanted to let him know....

"

"Breakfast..."

There are times

I set my ole' tin cup out for you

- they call it pewter but we know better,

you and I -

- right there, on the table,

even set an old silver spoon

long set-less and with its stupid-mean-nothing monogram

waiting for fingers to mean something

to have purpose - if only for a moment ...again.

I seem to stare at the empty chairs

more often somehow -

sometimes meaning to

  other times really not.

trying to remember ...nothing at all

and everything after all.

We do that

   sometimes,

even in the mornings...

Chris

there is nothing that compares with the sound of old silver on tin as it tinks it's way around a good hot cup of coffee and a good morning companion.. except when it is in the middle of a sleep less night..

If I said I could see the light that falls on this would you know what I mean? It is that good.

I'll take that setting, and settle down for breakfast... of coffee and words.

Is it our eyes can't keep up with our minds, or does our mind simply have no place for our eyes to go?
