"Happy Fathers Day"

"Happy Fathers Day"

A Poem by Anaya

I never really had a dad.

Just an inconsistent being in my life.

It’s like everytime he left,

He inserted, into me, another knife.

I never hated him, not one drop of spite.

Even if he left for 1,000 fortnights,

I always deemed it alright.

Because that’s my dad,

The one I thought to be so bright.

We have the same birthday,

May 3rd is that day,

We never celebrated it together,

But in my heart we will,

Someday.

Happy fathers day,

To the dad I never had,

I didn’t really tell him,

Because I refuse to keep begging him to comeback.

He doesn’t pick me up when I fall.

He doesn’t lift me up when I feel small.

He was there to wipe my tears,

Not even after my first heartbreak.

He says i’m his favorite kid,

But treats me like his biggest mistake.
