Spiritual Pollution

Spiritual Pollution

A Poem by Anathema

Don't let this world pollute you,
Fill your mind with thoughts that aren't even your own,
Fill your soul with values that you don't even hold,
Make you beat yourself up for things that aren't even wrong,
Make you feel like you don't belong.
See, we build walls inside of our minds,
Start feeling anxious and depressed all of the time.
Really, it's no surprise cause our soul's confined.
No matter what they tell you, no one's met their maker.
It's human beings that makes us feel like we might need a savior.
And people try to tell you that you are what you accomplish,
But if you can't stand yourself, then all of it's nonsense.
Every one of us has been told how we're supposed to feel,
How to live and what's pretend and what's real,
How to interpret what belongs to ourselves
And what to think of everyone else.
It's when we're lost that we stand to find
Peace within ourselves and pride in being one of a kind.
There is no one solution;
It's mental slavery, and it's all pollution.
