The forest

The forest

A Poem by Anata

At night

I lay myself down to sleep

I close my eyes

to sleep nevermore

In the quietness of dark

My mind spins at full throttle

Never find a moment of peace

My thoughts make me feel so sore

Teardrops emerge in my pillow

I feel how my cheek gets moist

The world seems so small

When I look through

red eyes and bloated eyelids

The peace

Brought by my worries

Takes me into dark forests

Exploring leads me to a well

Of drowned memories

Ready to revive

And slit my throat

I feel the cold

My body trembling

A voice whispers

And I open my eyes

Draw back my fears

Go on with my life

As if nothing was wrong

I know

At night

When I close my eyes

The forest will call me once again

This forest seems to be your own retreat inside your own mind, a safe place where you can run amongst the trees and not have to be worried about outside interferences. I think all of us at some time feel like this--getting away from it all to just relax and go with the flow, and do what it is forest-dwellers do...

This place is zen to you... your own grove.
