Robin Hood, Robin Hood

Forever clearing the danger from the wood

He stole from the wealthy

In order to make the poor healthy

He was generous never before seen

Hiding between the Sherwood green

Shooting arrows from afar

The rich ones he left a scar

With love he was strewn

Singing ballads under a full moon

Marian he would make his wife

Her love granting him eternal life

A story from our childhood

Trying to make us see

We have to stand up for equality

Not take for granted

All the lies within our mind planted

Cherish love as your life

Not just sweet talking from nine to five

Be ourselves whatever it takes

Accept and learn from our mistakes

A tale long lost

With Disney embossed

A tale we should share

In times of poverty and despair

A tale we should believe

As our lives we slowly weave

Nicely written - I'm not up on my Robin Hood mythology as far as how real he was or whether he was an amalgam of the highwaymen or both but I have always been intrigued by the character. Loved the line - Disney embossed. this is a great poem - the ryhme flows well - the meter is on point - well done.
