Chapter One

A Chapter by Anastasiya

"Ashton! Ashton! Where are you?" a child of seven called to me. I turned, trying to see into the dense underbrush. I frowned.

"Aria? Where are you? I don't see you," I muttered, brushing my dark bangs from my face. I narrowed my eyes, looking for a glimpse of a face identical to mine. I saw nothing and I moved farther away from the door we had come from.

"Aria?! Seriously! Mother and Father are expecting us back home soon!" I called. I heard nothing and began to panic. I had a bad feeling about this place and wanted to leave.

"Ashton! Help!" my twin screamed. My eyes widened and I ran to where I heard her voice. I came to a clearing that was extremely beautiful. . . Except for the blood splattered on the grass near the opposite end of the clearing.

"Aria!"

I sat up, panting and clutching my chest. Another dream about Wonderland. It's been eleven years since then, since Aria was taken. Mother and Father took me to a psychiatrist and he said she ran away, but I knew better. She'd been taken somewhere that day we were in Wonderland. I should've known not to go in the door, but I couldn't help it. Now I have no sister because of my childish way of thinking. I've gone back. Back to the door, I mean, but never have I gone farther than touching the doorknob. I've been frightened my whole life of it for no reason. . . Now it's time to get over my fear. I need to get my sister back. No other way around it. I will get her back.

"Ashton? You need to get ready! It's time to go see Daniel!" Mother called. I curled my lip in disgust. Daniel is my psychiatrist. He likes to pretend something's wrong with me and it has begun to grow annoying as of late. He is always telling me Aria ran away. He has even gone so far as to say that I was the one who chased her off! Soon, rather than later, he will be in for a rude awakening when he gets a bullet hole near his head when he pushes me today.

"Now, Ashton. It has been ten-"

"Eleven," I interrupted. The light haired man cleared his throat and glared at me from behind his glasses.

"As I said, it has been eleven years since Aria ran away-"

"She was kidnapped and maybe killed in Wonderland. Look, Daniel, we've been over this hundred times and to tell the truth I am not in the mood today. Instead, how about we talk about your love affair with my mother, ne? How you both have sex in this very room with my father and I standing outside your door?" I questioned, smirking. Daniel's face turned red.

"I have no idea what you are talking about!"

"Yeah, you do. Seriously, all that stupid 'He was comforting me' crap? Please. I'm not stupid. I used to work with the ma-" I cut off, realizing I slipped. I groaned as Daniel straightened up, a huge smile on his face.

"You worked with the what? Were you just about to say mafia?"

"No. Now keep pushing me and I'll kill you."

"Now, Ashton, did you join the mafia because of your sister running off and-" he cut off, turning his head to the small hole beside him then back at me. My feet were on his desk, my legs crossed and the gun was settled in my lap.

"One, I don't work with the mafia anymore. Two, my sister was taken from me. She never ran away. Three, you will admit to my father you were having an affair with my mother then pack up and leave this state. Or I will hunt you down and kill you," I told him quietly. He nodded slowly and I stood up, walked out the door and stood in front of my father. Father is a good, kind man. He basically raised me. He didn't deserve this from my mother.

"Father, Daniel has something very important to tell you about he and Mother. I need to go. Goodbye," I told him quickly. He needed to know I was leaving and that it was my choice. I didn't need the police running around town. My father nodded and hugged me.

"Bring her home, Ashton. I want you both back home, understand?" I blinked. I didn't know he believed me! I nodded and took off down the hall, away from the living room to the unused hall. The door was there, taunting me. It knew I was coming.

Wait for me, Aria. I'll be there soon.
