life deceives

life deceives

A Poem by Ananya

I wanted to hold the moon
Under my eyelids
It came
Multiplied a thousand times
And settled there for good
Shining in unshed tears.

I tried to touch the sun
It shone with its golden smile
Inviting
Enticing
Touching me
Burning my palms

I wished to love
And I did
Giving it my all
Heart and body
Soul and feelings
My dignity and honour
As I stood naked before it
Begging to be loved

It kicked me in the guts
I gasped

Life deceives
Not once
But more.

I know now
I want no moon
I want no sun
I want no love

I want no life
