AahutiA Poem by AnanyaAahuti is the offering to fire during Hindu ceremony of yajna
I pick a handful of my memories
And offer them to you You, the bright and all consuming fire Purifying, burning, destroying and creating I offer you my memories Take them And preserve them in your shining embrace Swaahaa I pick a handful of my dreams They cling to my fingers and soul Refusing to leave me O mighty presence You The one without form Take them To keep safe Till I return back to you And ask for them Keep them warm and alive In your burning heart. Swaaha I pick a handful of my smiles They smell musty Not used much Make them smell fresh O flowing energy I surrender them in your inviting arms Heat them up till they turn into laughs And save them for me Till I approach you. Swaaha O the mighty force That produces the life And also destroys it I offer you My tears I have many Shed and unshed Take them and store them away In some warm corner I will come one day And reclaim them Keep them warm So their coldness won't hurt my heart later. Swaaha You That is a gift from God That brings light into the soul of darkness O you mighty fire Take this last offering Take my heart and my soul Keep them pure Keep them safe Someday Someone will approach you And claim what is rightfully his Give them back to him Unchanged Not touched by time Take it all My sorrows and joys Smiles and laughs Dreams, nightmares Past, present, future Everything Swaaha I am starting on a new path Soulless © 2016 AnanyaReviews
