Limited to My World

Limited to My World

A Poem by Anand Sehgal

During the innocent days of my infancy,
Whenever I went for an outing
holding my dad's hand,
We always remained on the southern side of
the  crowded four-way crossing ,
the side to which our house belonged.

Curiosity in me piled up day by day ,
but not the courage  as much as
I  needed to cross the boundary of
the world well -known to me.

My dreams too were limited to the parts
 I knew in detail,
I had been to time and again.

Even  in my dreams ,
whenever I tried to cross the road,
thick smog appeared out of nowhere
to make the 'new world' opaque.

Every time I returned from the edge,
I remained safely within my domain ,
ruled my own comfort zone.

We all need to break free from our comfort zones at some point and explore what is out beyond what we know. Otherwise life becomes boring, a mundane routine... this write explores the boundaries of dreams verses how we allow security to structure our lives to the point of keeping us from experiencing life to the fullest. Well done, very thought provoking piece, Anand.

Love the take on this looking through the eyes of a child. I really could picture what they were seeing. Well done!

I remained safely within my domain ,
ruled my own comfort zone.

Great write and excellent message, the way we broadens up in thinking, dreaming, acting depends whether we are too territorial or not, at times things are even impossible unless you shake off your comfort zone blanket

You welcome, my pleasure, take care
My dreams too were limited to the parts
I knew in detail,
I had been to time and again.

My world is between four walls with net connection, is it a great life. I think may be or not. This is very nice poetry.

When you are young, you are steered toward safety... but sometimes you must go outside of the "comfort zone", to truly grow...

I love how your story unfolds within your message... well done, my friend!~xoxo~:)

There is such a well woven message in this poem, venture out on adventures for fear conceals your dreams, live free in your comfort but don't live trapped.

you have got it correctly :) Glad to receive your views :)
sometimes it is just too hard to get ourselves out of that comfort zone in life...we try so hard to stay safe, even if subconsciously...that we don't let ourselves dream bigger or strive for bigger...
safe can be comfortable, but is it the best?

good rhetorical questions raised in this piece.
