A Change, The Change

A Change, The Change

A Poem by Anand Sehgal

Once my dreams became verbose ;
I woke up to see that my magic pen was missing.
It was sailing away ,
Riding on the tide,
defining a new era ,
I had lost my artistry by then ;
I realized I was a mere  period.
Periods are never the same.

This is a very special write for me. It reminded me of writer's block. Writers go through phases of great changing as they are very sensitive individuals and life's events make deep impact on them. I am struggling with it for past several months and I could really connect to all you say in this great poem.

The period - the ultimate writing block. Hopefully you have not succumbed to that block, Anand. Haven't heard much from you lately and miss your voice. This is another great poem from your very much admired pen.

I will resume soon. I have not been keeping well, so going through a less productive phase.
There are those times when are dreams and expectations exceed our ability to fulfill them or get to the point where we see them able to come true and then we want to give up or change our expectations! But, we should try not to realize we are just a period, as this indicates the end, and the end may be put off for a while if we are willing to put forth the effort - guess that is just the optimist in me! We must forge on, but I do understand why one would at times want to give up!
A write with thoughts to ponder my friend!!

Thanks a lot Sheila for the kind review :)
Wow, the worst thing about being an artist is definitely when you don't have or even feel your tools in reach for you. Especially when you need them most. I felt like this today when I was at work; I didn't have my notebook that I usually write it and no pen. I felt like I was empty, suffocating. It's a scary and a terrible feeling...so relatable. You captured this feeling beautifully through your words :)

Glad that I could reach out to my audience :) :) thank you :D
We all go through different stages in our lives....times when the words flow fast and easily and times when the words seem to be staying away at all costs. Change....it is a constant in life. Sort of ironic. Very well written words here. lydi**

you are always kind :)
It is funny how 'realising' something seems to make it vanish! But you certainly don't have writer's block. I look forward to reading more of your poems.

This is thought-provoking... I never thought of a "Period" in that sense...
Well done, Anand! :)

thanks a lot dear for the review, Love :) :)
This picked at my brain and really made me reflect on how many times I have changed over the years and sometimes over the periods of time. Sometimes a change, such as our moods, can change in a matter of minutes. Lovely write. xo Winter

thank you too Vani for reading :D
Things change, shadows grow longer and darkness invades, but fear not, once more the sun will rise and in its light you will easily find that magic pen. Very nicely done my friend.
