Filmstrip

Filmstrip

A Poem by Anand Sehgal

Life is an unedited filmstrip,
 and you won't ever get a chance
to see how you looked in the act.

You would never know whether you
needed an improvement ,
by listening to mere mortal beings,
posing as the superiors to you ;
because  none of them is the director.

Nobody knows , what the original script says,
no one knows the purpose of the eternal drama.
We are just ephemeral puppets,
 to be played with.
A king may get to play the role of a servant;
an outcast may emerge as the closest person
overnight.
It is an art of destiny ;
a film, by the destiny,
but nobody will know ever,
a film meant for whom !

Thought provoking and leads me to take a look at my actions and perhaps not ask so many questions but understand that we are all a part of destiny and embrace the results with a bit of peace, instead of turmoil!!
You are right in that nobody knows the original script, nor the purpose of the eternal drama. We are part of a plan!!
Excellent!!

"Life is an unedited filmstrip and you won't ever get a chance to see how you looked in the act". I love that. For some reason I started laughing by the end. It might be that I'm just tired! Quite late over here. This poem is brilliant, you're a wonderful writer.

thanks a lot dear :)
None of us get to see how things will truly turn out in the end, we can just trudge forward and let our voices be heard---always hoping for the best. I like the "eternal drama' that you painted with your words. This "unedited filmstrip" that is life will go on and on, and perhaps no one will ever get to see the outcome. "All the world's stage" and we are merely players upon it, yes? I like your re-invention of this Shakespearean concept! Bravo!

Thanks a lot Sarai for the kind review. Will read from your list soon :)
Love
Yes, I rather agree with the sentiments in this thoughtful poem. Sometimes I feel that we, as indididuals are superfluous in the story. But life can be wonderful so it is best to enjoy it even if only in the little things. I enjoyed your poem.

life is incorrigible. You can improve yourself. but what is done once, becomes indelible forever.
I really like this concept. Life is much like one big screenplay...we all have our parts, but there is plenty of add-libbing and course correcting along the way. One day someone might be playing the part of the villan, and the next, they may be portraying superman. We all have it in us to be everything and nothing...it is our choice.

Perhaps a few places where the flow could be strengthened and evened out a little bit, but as i said before I really love the concept and the tone of the piece was quite nice. You have a keen poetic eye, my friend.

I will keep in mind the "smoothening of the flow" advice . Thank you Sarah for your kind review :)
