Scars

Scars

A Poem by Angel Wood

I missed the magic of childhood
Was taught fear and pain far too soon
I never knew sweet innocence
Was never given the chance to bloom

So many things he stole from me
That can never be replaced
Security, trust, self love
He made me feel only disgrace

My scars are not visible
But if you look closer you will see
The traces that his sickness left upon me

While I cannot change the past
I'll be a victim no longer
His touch continues to haunt me
But each day, I grow stronger
