Liquid Gold

Liquid Gold

A Poem by Anais K.V

"

Bring me the sunset in a cup,

Brimming with liquid gold,

Bottomless and impossibly clear,

So that I might see all the way

To springtime in its depths.

Bring me winter in your pocket,

Sealed with frost,

Tell the secret of snow and

Decorate my neck

With crystalline ice.

Bring me birdsong in your mouth

From a faraway forest.

Carry it back to me

As you would carry

My name on your lips.

Or bring me only yourself,

And let me look at you,

At summer in the creased

Palms of your hand,

And the sunrise in your heart,

Brimming with liquid gold.

Author's Note

Anais K.V
This one was written based on a prompt, which was the first line of the poem. It's taken from the Emily Dickinson poem, which is a million times more beautiful than mine will ever be, but hopefully you like bits of this anyway.

A wonderful poem! Don't sell this piece short.. you've done a marvelous job with that prompt in my opinion. Just curious, what instrument(s) do you play?

Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it.
I adore your style, I very much doubt her poems was as good as this one.

my favorite lines (all of the 1st stanza) but:

1. To springtime in its depth
2.As you would carry
My name on your lips.
