Canvas

Canvas

A Poem by Sapphus

A wilderness in white
The canvas of these walls closes in on me
They squirm as I spill my few bloodied thoughts on them.
Discoloring their whiteness.

this was a dark and violent image. a thought that belongs to someone who is quietly sufferring. and i know the feeling of a catharsis building up but never been released, and it's something i wish nobody should have to go through. while it is quite disturbing, your descriptiveness and use of language in general was on the mark. i think it is a strong work.

Could be amazing if we could paint a canvas with our thoughts Sapphus. My canvas would be chaos and beautiful places.
"They squirm as I spill my few bloodied thoughts on them.
Discoloring their whiteness."
The above lines, I do understand. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

Wasn't it Shakespeare who said brevity is the soul of wit? Indeed! Good to meet you, Sapphus. Brilliant piece!

Thank you Kelly. Good to meet you too.
In its simplicity this short piece is far deeper than first appearance. It provokes thought about writing and what we paint or leave unsaid. Nicely worded.
