Hearts

Hearts

A Poem by John Prophet

Hearts.
What
evil
dwells
in the
hearts
of men.
Raging
eternity
bound.
Charging
the fields
of ages.
Leaving
death,
destruction.
Suffering
in their
wake.
Madness!
Primitive
instincts
holding
sway.
Overwhelming
logic and
trust.
Animal
blood lust.
Mindlessness
on full
display.
Leaving
the innocent
in disarray
to pick up
and carry
on.
Putting
the pieces
back on
display.
