Living Alone

Living Alone

A Poem by Amy J

The pile of dirty laundry

The garden overgrown

The stacks of washing up

The plight of living alone

The quiet evenings waiting

The silence of the phone

The radio for comfort

The plight of living alone

The company of novels

The sofa, a tattered thrown

The one man conversations

The plight of living alone

The post it's all for me

Bills for all I own

Dinner for one again

The plight of living alone

There's space for one more here

Come, make yourself at home

To remind me why it is

That I chose to live alone

It is strange, sometimes you want rid of people to get some peace.
Sometimes you need people around you, even if it's just moaning at them.
We just never seem to get that happy medium how much we try.
