Missing You

Missing You

A Poem by Amy J

I miss you today, I can’t quite say why;

Can’t put my finger on it, just something inside.

I wish you were here, to enjoy this with me;

It’s your kind of place; the sun, the sea.

I’m living the dream, I really am;

The dolphins, and hammocks, and white powder sand.

Waking up with the light, it’s a beautiful thing;

But sometimes I wish you were what the morning would bring.

It’s silly I know, I’m a grown woman now;

I want to travel the world, work hard and make you proud.

But every now and then, something rattles my heart;

A whisper in my ear reminds me we’re apart.

So here’s to the long nights and days anew;

Because with every one that passes, I know I’ll be closer to you.
