The Willow Tree

The Willow Tree

A Poem by Amy..... "sing To Me A Spanish Lullaby, And I Will Get Lost In Your Eyes"
"

Let me stop to be her friend....

"

I stopped to take a break today
To feel the breeze that came my way
The breeze I felt came blowing by
Filled with joy and butterflies

The Butterflies that flew around
The flowers growing in the ground
They flew around and down the street
I followed them with every beat

With every beat they flew around
Way up high and then way down
I followed them and then to see
A tall and pretty willow tree

The tree’s large roots I sat upon
To rest before I carried on
A busy day I must confess
I never take the time to rest

The breeze that came my way today
From her branch that swayed my way
She brought me here to take a rest
To heal myself and know I’m blessed

To slow my life down to half speed
To feel the breeze that tickled me
To take the time with butterflies
To watch their beauty flying by

They lead me to the willow tree
To slow me down so I could see
How beautiful a day can be
To sit beneath the willow tree.

-Amen-

Amy..... "sing To Me A Spanish Lullaby, And I Will Get Lost In Your Eyes"
I actually wrote this poem for one of my friend's mother who was going through the same type of cancer I have had. I wanted to "give" her something that would have meaning and love.... somehow, willow trees give me that peace....

Interesting that you'd willows as a source of comfort, I always think of the "weeping" willow.

We all need to slow down and take a breath, enjoy the beauty of the world, relax in the boughs of a tree. This was nice.

this is a lovely one - gentle and heartfelt - even the color is a lift.

Willow trees are wonderful creations, and I like to mention them in my stories. In fact, my story "Promise of Angels" was originally called " Beneath the Willow Tree." There's just something about them, isn't there? Thanks for sharing your sensitive thoughts. Sam

Do we really have to "tell all" for one to be a friend? I am not like most of the writers here at the cafe. I have not been writing for very long and actually started only a short time ago after my .. more..
